The first Storyliving development was in California, but the second, dubbed Asteria, will be located in North Carolina, near Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. It’s in the beginning stages of planning with Walt Disney Imagineering and DMB Development, according to a press release from Disney.

Storyliving’s first community, Cotino, was announced in February 2022 and will be located in Rancho Mirage in California’s Coachella Valley, where Walt Disney himself owned a home.
Asteria is set to be built on 1,500 acres in the town of Pittsboro, in Chatham County, which the company says will offer residents metropolitan amenities with a small-town feel, plus plenty of parks and miles of trails for walking and biking. The development will be part of a larger community calledChatham Park.

More than 4,000 units will include both single-family and multi-family homes, and some sites will be designated for those aged 55 and up. Other perks will include a wellness and recreation center, restaurant, sport courts, swimming pools, a community garden and outdoor space intended for lawn games, events and fire pits.
While prices for units in Asteria haven’t yet been revealed, the Storyliving websitesays single-family homes in Cotino are anticipated to range from the upper $1 millions to the lower $2 millions.
“For nearly 100 years, Disney has shared stories that have touched the hearts and minds of people all around the world,” Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, said in a statement last year, when Cotino was announced. “As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing new and exciting ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, expanding storytelling to storyliving.
“We can’t wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest,” he added.
