American Horror Story ’s sixth season kicking off September 14 , and the anthology show has yet to reveal its composition . Sure , fine . Building prediction and all that . But the ad run leading up to the premiere has been peppered with “ misdirects , ” allot to the oral sex of FX . Here ’s the young promo , which dropped today :
Okay . Creepy enough . A few hours subsequently , American Horror Story posted another promoto its Facebook page , completely different in elan and tone . These a la mode missives come aftersix earlier promos , all of which were also altogether different in style and tone .
Last calendar week , after those six promos — and some widespread internet speculation found onset photos that appear to suggest some sort of Lost Colony motive — FX Bos John Landgraf tell that he and show creator Ryan Murphy had connive not only to keep the theme enigma , but also to drop mistaken clue about it .
According to theHollywood Reporter :
“ There are many more drone than you ’ve in reality seen for hypothetical season of American Horror Story — different genre , different spot , ” Landgraf sound out of the season - six effort . “ One of them is accurate ; the others are all misdirects . ”
On paper it ’s a clever idea . And the execution of the lagger is actually quite full — American Horror Story ’s style and style with product aim is always on item .
However . The problem is not that we ’re going unhinged trying to figure out the report , as Landgraf and Murphy dearly hope . The problem is that NO ONE CARES THAT MUCH ABOUT THE STUPID THEME . The stakes are not that high , you Guy . This is n’t Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead , where new season continue storylines that we ’ve deal about for long time , and glimpses of what ’s to come send fan into hypothesis frenzies . Who do they think is sitting around really trying to figure out which of the promos is the real deal ? Colonial America bread and butter - history participants who ’re hoping against hope that they ’ll finally see a gory goggle box melodrama in their favorite setting ? Sarah Paulson devotees who ’re dying to see her wield a chainsaw and make some Texas barbecue ?
Okay … that last one would be pretty awesome . I ’ll be place my money there , and tune out any and all further promos until the damned thing in the end premier .
