Intergalactic quad is much more crowded than people might think . Between the extragalactic nebula , in what might appear an endless nihility , there are gas clouds that have remain unaltered almost since the Big Bang . We knew they were everywhere , but now we know how great they are .

Jeffrey Cooke of the Swinburne University of Technology   and John O’Meara of St. Michael ’s College   presented a young proficiency for determining the size of these giant gas cloud at the227th group meeting of the American Astronomical Societyin Florida   this hebdomad .

The method is not without flaws , though . To detect the DLAs , it is necessary to make long and cryptical exposure , which were provided by some of the most powerful scope in the humankind . Future observation campaigns   will be able to canvass DLAs in larger numbers .
