The comet was declare numb when it reappeared from behind the sun with massively decreased brightness level ; all that scientist could see was a dull daub , which led them to take for granted its nucleus and tail has been destroy . But , according to the BBC , researchers are now seeing “ a brightening of what may be a pocket-size sherd of the comet ” :

Astronomers admit to being surprised and delighted , but now caution that anything could take place in the coming hours and days .
This remnant of Ison could continue to lighten , or it could simply taper off out all in all .
“ We ’ve been adopt this comet for a twelvemonth now and all the fashion it has been surprising us and confusing us , ” say astrophysicist Karl Battams .

“ It ’s just typical that flop at the end , when we say , ‘ yes , it has wither out , it ’s died , we ’ve lost it in the Sun ’ , that a couple of hour later on it should pop right back up again . ”
We ’re eager to see what ’s really happened to the comet , and will update with any pictures that are published as shortly as we see them . [ BBC ]
Update : And here are some GIFs that show Ison after its journeying past the sun ! ( They ’re big , so they may take a while to load . )
