Brian and I have been debating the merits of the Leopard feature ring Spaces . Using CTRL keys , you could careen up , down , left and right , to different sets of subject apps and window , while the desktop itself continue stationary wherever you go . I have jumped in with mirth , but Blam is not as sell : he thinks it does pretty much what Exposé does for him already . Here ’s how the debate went , but we ’re odd as to what you intend .
Wilson : I do it Spaces because I can keep all of my normal daily nett stuff in one Space . Then , when I require to get to the desktop , I just go to an unfastened space . All my window stick put , yet I can jump around .
Blam : I use Exposé for that . I do n’t wish Spaces because on top of multiple windows , and multiple monitors , I ca n’t keep track of all my windowpane . And hit the CTRL tonality or any presettable key for shift is slow .
Wilson : It seems like Spaces was n’t design for multiple monitors . Exposé only gets you to the point of moving poppycock out of the direction , but space means you could empty the screen , and begin novel body of work . When the new window crop up up , the old ones do n’t add up back until you go back to the old Space .
Blam : I despise how it will interchange Spaces automatically when I tap an icon for an app on the dock , but do n’t have intercourse how to fix it .
Wilson : I hear you . I detest how I accidentally fall into place CTRL - arrow ( instead of Option - arrow ) and everything suddenly vanish . But my brain is starting to divide itself into four equal spaces , one that I ALWAYS forget white .
Blam : How many place do you practice ?
Wilson : Two to three .
Blam : Exposé is easier to touch off . I just move my mouse to a corner . It ’s faster and I can get to the desktop that agency and open up new apps .
Wilson : CTRL - arrow or CTRL-1 2 3 or 4 – what ’s so hard about that ?
Blam : Moving thing between Spaces is annoying . You receive ta hit the chief Spaces tonality or icon .
Wilson : Why do it then ? Go to a space , open up what you want , and it stays in that Space . I really wish it because you may do all of your Finder window stuff and nonsense in one Space . When you have a bunch of apps heart-to-heart , Finder windows get second - year handling . Here they can have a freestanding ( but equal ) Space of their own .
Blam : But what if you want to cart a file to an picture ? Or another window in another Space ? Pain in the ass .
Wilson : draw a file from an subject windowpane ? Just use the Dock . Another window in another space requires Fn - F8 . You are right-hand , it ’s a bit of a step , but no bigger than Fn - F9 or Fn - F10 ( my Exposé keys ) . You have yours setup with a black eye , but I ’m a key stroke guy . They used to call me the Stroker , I accept because I liked keystrokes , not because I like spending an hour in the bathroom during HS . ( That was a jest . )
Blam : Hahahaha . I just am bedevil with Spaces , even after I gave it a dependable try . Exposé does enough for me .
Wilson : I only really ever used F11 , “ clear all . ” And now Spaces is much more useful for that .
Blam : render computer mouse frame-up of Exposé , dude . It is insane , especially while drag data file .

UPDATE : Want to move an open windowpane from one Space to another ? take hold of it and drag it to the sharpness of the screen . After a beat , it will jump into the next Space over , and you may leave it there , or keep a - goin’ . Pretty nerveless since it means you could move apps around without going into the bird’s - center - view .
