Drones will soon replete the skies above Kenya ’s 52 national parks and reserves , after a successful pilot light program showed that they ’re effective at stopping sea poker . Very effective : In the fender program , drones reduced poachingby a noteworthy 96 percent .
Of course , the drone have some help . “ Use of trailer has shown that we can preclude poaching and collar many poachers on their tracks , ” Paul Udoto , spokesman for the Kenya Wildlife Service ( KWS),told The Guardian . “ The pilot undertaking has been a winner and we are working with many partners including the Kenya police , the National Intelligence Service , and a lot of external partners such as Interpol , Ugandan and Tanzanian governments . ” The drones themselves use radio oftenness to monitor the effort of the wildlife and spot poacher before they take .
Using drones to supervise wildlifeis nothing new , but this is one of the first statistics showing the efficaciousness of such a programme . While poacher haver kill 435 elephants and about 400 rhinoceros in Kenya since 2012 , only 51 elephant and 18 rhinos have been lose this year . We ’ll soon see if the program will actually scale .
