At this very inst , five thousand light years from Earth , near the center of our coltsfoot , new stars are forge in a region of interstellar gas and dust phone the Lagoon Nebula .
Bright , red-hot young stars blaze away amid black clouds of junk and promising streak of glowing gas . Remember that some of those stars are several time bigger than the Sun , yet they ’re dwarfed by these bar of gas and debris . For a more exact sense of scale of measurement , the whole image is about 40 light years across .
Eventually , that gaseous state will take form new stars , which will catch more gas and dust around themselves to form their own solar system .
