The new trailerfor Avengers : Endgame is here , and it ’s wreak a friend in the form of the currentqueen of the box business office , Carol Danvers . But it ’s also given us the teeniest of new glimpses at the ultimate culmination of the Avengers ’ imposing battle against Thanos . Here ’s what we manage to tell apart amidst the ruin .
The trailer opens nostalgically , with footage from the picture show that start all this off in the first place : Iron Man . Flashing back to past movies is something this trailer leans on heavily in ordination to avoid in reality showing us too much .
But is it just nostalgia or perhaps a suggestion to the timey - wimey rumors that have tail Endgamefor a while ? Reportslong agogave us pictures of what appeared to be new footage shot around The Avengers ’ Battle of New York sequences , with logical implication of time - change of location ( or even theBARF simulation techfrom Captain America : Civil War ) being the grounds for it .
Anyway , the tale over it from Tony Stark ( Robert Downey Jr. is new ): “ God , seems like a thousand years ago … I fought my means out of that cave , became Iron Man … actualize I loved you . ” This is presumably all part of the message we see to it Tony recording aboard the Benatar inthe first drone , about to run out of air , and devise to say good-by to Pepper Potts ( Gwyneth Paltrow ) , as we get a bit more previous footage from the original Iron Man and Iron Man 3 .

Anyway , now it ’s Steve Rogers ’ ( Chris Evans ) turn to get the nostalgic brooding handling ! In the comics , it was Kate Bishop who became Hawkeye ( after Clint go away following his death and revival C. W. Post - House of M ) , but she had no relation to him .

But he also gets Avengers : Infinity War snap victims like Falcon ( Anthony Mackie ) , Black Panther ( Chadwick Boseman ) , and Scarlet Witch ( Elizabeth Olsen ) , as we hear him solemnly observe that he “ saw all these people become flat , ” touch to some tarry sorrow that soupcon at Thor attempting to burden the obligation for their destruction on himself alone . Maybe he should ’ve aimed for the head .
Finally , a meaty dead reckoning of actual Endgame footage again , as we glimpse Natasha , Steve , and Bruce Banner ( Mark Ruffalo ) back at Avengers HQ — and Nat has her two - tone hair . It ’s full blonde in some view , like when she reunites with Hawkeye , so this is presumably coif after that — because subsequently on when we see the entire team assembled , her hair is still in this style . “ I keep telling everybody they should move on , ” Steve notes . “ Some do , but not us . ” Well , you guy are Avengers , Steve .
As Nat and Steve ponder that if there ’s a prospect they could take to undo Thanos ’ repulsion , they should take it , we get our first glimpse at Scott Lang ( Paul Rudd ) , having live the snap during his head trip into the Quantum Realm at the end of Ant - Man and The Wasp ( we ’ve yet to find out if him simply being in the Quantum Realm is what bring through him from the dusty destiny forif it was mere chance — but we assume the former ) . This is presumably at least a fiddling after the initial jar , given the missing posters he in low spirits looks at .
Meanwhile , a Quinjet fly in over Tokyo — note Tokyo Tower on the left wing , and the Rainbow Bridge ( yes really ! ) across Odaiba and Shibaura Pier — with Clint and Nat on board . So Tokyo is presumably where Clint was off Ronin ’ around .
But we passably quickly cut to this menacing shot of Hawkeye attempt to outrun a huge explosion , in some kind of underground tunnel . His outfit matches the one we just saw him wearing in the Quinjet — is this part of his escapade in Tokyo , or somewhere else after with Nat ?
Speaking of action at law though , the trailer take off getting very action heavy here as we see Rocket Raccoon ( Bradley Cooper ) and War Machine ( Don Cheadle)—ready for natural action . Rocket ’s get a nerveless space accelerator , and note that beefy , souped - up War Machine suit of clothes for Rhodey ! And , finally — finally — after being realise in it in concept artistic creation for Guardians of the Galaxyyears and years ago , Rocket is outwear a cinematic take on his comics uniform from the2008 Abnett / Lanningrun that inspired the film team .
Also observe : Where in the hell is this scrap taking place ? It seems to be the same conflict we get glimpses of later in the trailer , but it ’s worth contain in judgement that its genuine localization is obscured by ash and flame throughout . Is it the fight against Thanos , or some other battle forwards of it ?
Before we get ahead of ourselves though , it ’s metre for a chip more build up with a shot of what seems like it could be Steve ’s reunion with Hawkeye after he ’s bring back to HQ by Nat — as he close off her in the first place voiceover about taking the chance to undo this with a wide-eyed “ We will . Whatever it takes . ” We also get our best look at Hawkeye ’s exceedingly confutable haircut here . mayhap how he learned about the snap was his hairdresser got dusted mid - razoring ?
More pre - conflict - preparation , as we turn out between Scott Lang , suit up in what looks like Avengers HQ , and then a quick snapshot of an electrified Thor readying Stormbreaker .
Nebula unleash a cardinal scream before send into battle , but … where is she ? The lighting match the emplacement of wherever Rocket and War Machine were , rather than Titan , where we last encounter her ( plus , why would she be rushing into battle there when only her and Tony were left digest ? ) . The yellow chromaticity in the sky though makes this seem like it ’s not Earth , as does all the wreckage . Is this actually the world where we saw Thanos tending crops in the first trailer , after his victory ? Or is it another foreign world that she finds herself on ?
As we get another abbreviated shot of Clint set up himself in the same burrow we saw exploding sooner , and a repeat fromthe Superbowl spotof Natasha drop off on a firing range at Avengers HQ , we take heed them both echo Steve ’s “ Whatever it takes ” with ones of their own .
Another prolongation from the Superbowl bit is this shot of Steve tightening his shield straps , so we now get to see him grit his dentition too — which also reveals this is taking place in the same scrap we ’ve now learn Rocket , Rhodey , and Nebula in . So yeah , this is feeling like some real “ last engagement ” level scrapping , here .
Meanwhile , Ant - Man leap into miniature action , and while the flack and kindling would seem to suggest that this is wherever Cap and the others are fighting . If it is , then maybe it ’s not as alien a post as we retrieve it could be . Note the aim Scott bound around — a pencil , a headphone jack , what looks like a quantify tape . All pretty Earth - ish object . So he ’s either somewhere dissimilar from the rest of our heroes and this is just trickily edit , or whatever this scrap is is a snatch closer to home than we anticipated .
We cut back to Tony aboard the Benatar register his concluding message , just to give him a “ Whatever it direct ” of his own .
A new dawn rise in Avengers HQ , as our grinder , at long last , are gather . Not everyone is here , or at least demonstrate here — we get Steve , Scott , Nebula , Clint , Rhodey , and Nat . But we also get Tony and Nebula . So at this point , they ’ve been rescue from their seeming end of the world ( oh , like Tony would go out in this film like that ! ) . But also , observe the snazzy costumes ! Themed armor , or is this spacesuit gear ? Hell , the breathing in of Hank Pym ’s Quantum Realm suit from Ant - Man and The Wasp on these could even hint at a slip into microscopical kingdom rather than cosmic ones .
This is , actually , not the first time we ’ve seen these smell — leak merchandiserevealed the case recently , but it was always changeable as to whether or not they were misdirection just for the toys , or actually in the film , so it ’s nice to get to see the latter confirmed . Which raises an interesting tip — those miniature also reveal the likes of Rocket , Hulk , Thor , and even the completely - unseen - in - this - poke Valkyrie ( Tessa Thompson ) donning these outfits too . So perchance not everyone is in this pan shooter . Also , it should be mentioned , outside of the flashback scenes there ’s no Wakandans in slew .
The trailer conclude with a Heron we ’ve been waiting to see in this picture show : at last , Carol Danvers is on the scene at Avengers HQ , after we watch her make her speedy arrival there and demand to knowwhere Nick Furyis in Captain Marvel ’s first post - credits scene . It ’s a brief import , but a fun one — Thor , essay to restrain the new arrival , summons Stormbreaker to his grip right past her . All he gets out of Carol ?
A smirk . Oh , we agree , Odinson — we like this one , too . Also : mention that Nat has her full blonde Infinity War tomentum here , so this is presumptively pre - braid - and - dyestuff and pre - Hawkeye . So perchance Carol arrive on the scene pretty rapidly ? We ’ll have to wait and see .
Like our prior tone at Endgame , this trailer does n’t really differentiate us all that much beyond whatwe already knew : the clobber and injure Avengers regroup and prepare for one last - ditch exertion to take out Thanos once and for all . What that attempt involves , or the price that will have to be paid to see it pulled off , remains unseen . And at this stage , we plausibly wo n’t get any more hints until Endgame is actually hitting theaters .
