The first time of year of care the Walking Dead ended Sunday Nox with a finale that brought some much required action at law , dramatic event and character building to a series that has struggled mightily to find its vox .
Six weeks ago , when we first sat down to watch this spinoff to The Walking Dead , we were promised a glimpse at how Los Angeles fell to the zombi infection ; a prequel to the havoc in Atlanta . We get that , but on a very micro plate , as we ’ve meticulously watch over two teachers and their several families through the initial jounce , denial , adaptation and eventual sufferance of what ’s take place . In fact that last bit , adoption , was the focusing of the finis , especially on the shoulders of Travis .
The close began with some beautiful shots of a pitch black Los Angeles , leave the sort of far-flung scope the show rarely gave us a coup d’oeil of . Later , after the action - packed intrusion of the military groundwork , we nonplus those views again as the fiber dove through the Los Angeles aqueduct . Both these setting were welcome dance band - assistance on the show ’s very insular aspect of the city ’s gloam and showed up just in clock time .
Between those tantrum , we witnessed the show ’s big action mechanism scenes by far . Actually , that ’s almost an understatement , as Fear the Walking Dead has certainly not been roll in the hay for its action . In that moment , seeing his trustfulness in people betray , Travis snapped . He attacks Andy and beats him to a pulp . It was the first of two big moment that would finally reveal what this first season of fearfulness the Walking Dead has actually been about .
Once they set out out , the salesman Strand suggest the mathematical group not go east to the desert as planned , but west to his beach house . ( Fun fact : The beach sign of the zodiac he ’s is in Palos Verdes , California , and was also the house Turtle owned in the Entourage movie . I ’m pretend Turtle and the suite boys have been eaten by zombies . ) The beach house seems like a good place for them to keep up but no . Strand is n’t deliver it . He wants to be mobile and potentially teased to Nick that he has a racing yacht they could use . How commodious .
Then , in the show ’s culmination moments , we found out Liza — Chris ’s mom and Travis ’s ex — had been injured . She ’s infected and wants Madison to kill her . “ Do n’t allow Travis do it , it will break him ” she said . In that moment , Travis arrived , crying were shed , and he charge his x - wife — the female parent of his son — in the head .
As Travis cried on his knees on the cusp of the sea , the whole degree of this very factious , often wearisome , season of Fear the Walking Dead revealed itself .
