Friday was a big daytime at the drone examination facility in Boulder City , Nevada . It was the day that the first laggard authorized to fly without FAA approval would take to the air . The burnished orange remote-controlled aircraft , Magpie , did just that — and then itcrashed to the groundin an embarrassing cloud of junk two seconds subsequently .
The crashed was gather with an audible moan from the crowd . This was theorise to be Magpie ’s consequence in the Lord’s Day , but the dang thing just crash direct into the ground in front of the governor , a senator , a congressman , and unnumberable concerned local . The drone itself was ostensibly unharmed . But how awkward !

In a way , it was just the demonstration the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems needed to justify its existence . This is one of six test sites nationwidetasked with figuring out on the dot how dawdler could apportion the skieswith commercial aircraft , so it needs to provide a realistic portrait of the res publica of the industry . The Nevada facility is also the only such land site in America that can issue its own FAA airworthiness credentials . Leaders watching this cutting edge technology go bad bright shows how important sites like the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems are . Of course , it also does n’t help the government lighten up up about commercial droning ruleswhich are sure to be strict . [ AP ]
