California ’s Glass Beach is a striking example of how refuse can be transformed into something beautiful .

In the 1950 ’s , residents of nearby Fort Bragg would throw their garbage over the cliffs and onto what is now know as Glass Beach . Back then , it was known as “ The Dumps ” and this growing drivel peck was on occasion reduced by burning .

This pattern of dumping and burn was ended in 1967 and metropolis leaders began the long cognitive operation of cleaning up the tidy sum .
