With Google ’s press release of its brand newfangled lookup app for iOS , we decided to put Siri in the tintinnabulation with Voice Search - now uncommitted on your iPhone - to see if she could defend her own turf .
Overall performance on both side of meat was mostly sound . There were some odd answer , like when I asked for data about the worst Hurricanes in New York City , and Siri gave me hockey scores . Or when I ask when the next Giants biz was , and Google give me the grudge for last week ’s World Series games , alternatively of an upcoming NY Giants schedule .
But in the close , and as you’re able to see above , Siri was just a number too slow and temperamental to contend with Google Voice Search . Google came up with a quicker answer almost every sentence , was more accurate , and frankly sound much less grate than Siri .
Google Voice Search really shines when you ’re searching for something that needs to be found on the web . Whereas Siri ordinarily command an extra click - through to instruct Siri to open Safari , the Google app hit the vane with every question ; and almost always with quick , accurate result . Of course , it Google ’s version has its limits ; it does n’t have access to the information hive away on your iPhone , so you ca n’t tell it to transport a text to someone or look your impinging . Otherwise , though , it ’s a very welcome improvement .
