Officials at a Massachusetts grocery store are setting the record straight after an employee claimed to have seen a ghost in the store’s aisles — causing an uproar online.

Christina Bush, who works at Market Basket grocery store in Wilmington, said she saw a Victorian-era ghost standing barefoot in the store on March 13,according toToday.

“It wasn’t like something out of the corner of my eye. She was staring right at me. It must have been for a second-and-a-half,” Bush said. “I was in the bakery working and I was writing on a cake for a customer. And when I turned around to bring the cake back to the counter, I saw the lady in the background — she was staring right at me. I looked down for a second because it didn’t register and when I looked back she was gone.”

The 25-year-old described the ghost as a “grandma” with short, curly hair, wearing a white gown with a matching cap and no shoes, according toToday. She said she searched the aisles for the apparition, but could not find the woman.

Convinced she had seen a ghost, Bush decided to take her claim to a local Facebook group, accordingto theBoston Globe, writing: “This is going to sound really really strange … but has anyone seen a ghost in the Wilmington market basket?”

In the post’s comment section, Bush, described the ghost as “an old Victorian era woman in her nightgown … near the frozen peas. Lol,” accordingto theBoston Globe.

“I’ve seen something like this but … younger,” one person wrote, according to theGlobe. “[Definitely] around that era tho, the clothes and hairstyle.”

The ghost-sighting quickly made its way through the Internet. “I had no idea it was going to blow up,” Bush toldWNBC. It even caught the attention of Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton who tweeted: “Apparently a ghost is haunting the Wilmington Market Basket … I thought I only needed to worry about witches and ghouls in #Salem!”

As for the store owners, Market Basket officials dismissed the claim in an amusing statement to WNBC.

“As far as we know, all of our stores are ghost-free. But if there’s anything to it, she’s probably attracted to our Victorian-era prices,” they said in the statement.
