The hack radical is likely attempting to dominate Tor ’s relays to the point where it can comprise namelessness . Torkeeps you anonymousby bouncing your communications around a web of volunteer nodes . But if one group is controlling the bulk of the thickening , it could be ableto eavesdropon a square number of vulnerable users . Which mean Lizard Squad could gain the power to track Tor users if it infiltrate enough of the internet .

So far , they have already established over 3000 relays , nearly one-half of the total number . That ’s very not good .

“ Someone who claims to be a part of Lizard Squad has set up a expectant number of Tor relay . That ’s it , ” Runa A. Sandvik , an advocate with the Tor task , tell me .

Update : The Tor Project has publish a statement about the attack . “ This looks like a regular attempt at a Sybil attack : the assailant have signed up many newfangled relays in hope of becoming a gravid fraction of the meshing . But even though they are go one thousand of novel relay , their relays currently make up less than 1 % of the Tor web by capacity . We are go now to remove these relays from the connection before they become a threat , and we do n’t expect any anonymity or performance effects based on what we ’ve seen so far . ” So hopefully this gets squeeze in the trollish bud before anonymity is affected .
